Let’s End Child labour Now!
June 15, 2021Ghana’s youth pitch digital and non-digital ideas to find innovative solutions to open defecation
November 12, 2021According to a 2018 report by GhanaWeb, Ghana loses an estimated GHC 1.440 billion cedis, as a result of poor sanitation and the menace of open defecation. Open defecation not only costs more than any other form of improper sanitation but also has a significant negative societal impact.
The ‘Ideas Hack 21’, launched on the World Youth Skill Day by Unicef, together with its partners provides participants with the chance to share their viable solutions to end open defecation, which worsens malnutrition and leads to diarrhoeal diseases.
Curious Minds’ “Healthy Environment Advocates” are part of the top 10 teams of young innovators participating in the #IdeasHack21 BootCamp.
According to Unicef Ghana, the teams will work with experts to develop their ideas on ending open defecation in Ghana and will have a chance to win prizes if their solution works.
Here are more photos from Day 1 of the BootCamp and on-field exercise by the team to gather data on open defecation and engage for insights to ensure their solution meets the needs of the community as well as owned by them to improve health and livelihoods.
We wish the CM-Healthy Environment Advocates the best with their solution to #EndOpenDefecation!
