Ghana SRHR Alliance FOR Young People (GUSO Programme) is made up of • Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana(PPAG), • Hope for Future Generations – HFFG, • NORSAAC, • Presbyterian Health Services – North (NPHS), • Curious Minds Ghana • Savana Signatures • Theatre for Social Change • Simli AiD The GUSO Programme is being implemented in the Northern Region (Tamale Metro, Sagnerigu District, East Mamprusi District and Gushegu District) and Upper East Region (Bolgatanga Municipal and Talensi. GUSO involves the delivering of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), Promoting Youth Friendly Services (YFS), developing functional partnerships with social justice institutions, Building linkages for referral systems and creating awareness for young people to seek quality services. The programme also seeks to build the capacities of information providers (teachers, peer educators, health care providers), social justice institutions’ staff to provide comprehensive services to young people and also to engage politicians and policy makers on enforcement of teaching CSE in schools and providing YFS in health facilities.

Strategic Objectives • To build a strong and sustainable alliance through strategic partnerships with local and international SRHR organizations. • To bring to bear the added value of working together on the collaborative efforts to improve on the SRHR on young people in Ghana. • To provide Technical Assistance / capacity on meaningful youth participation and social inclusion based on request to Stakeholders developing or implementing interventions targeted at young people • To foster strong relationships with traditional authorities, religious bodies and governmental agencies to create a supportive environment for young people’s SRHR and the implementation of SRHR policies and protocols. • To promote the use of information and communication technology for driving young people’s empowerment through increased utilization of SRHR information and services Who is involved? The GUSO project involves young people in the age group of 10-24. The project is also made up of underserved groups, Young People Living with HIV, Young LGBT, young mothers, youth with disabilities, hard-to-reach youth in remote areas and young people in the age group 10-16 years. Partners for GUSO Programme include The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Northern Alliance Partners, Rutgers, IPPF, dance4life, Simavi, STOP AIDS NOW!, Choice for Youth and Sexuality with the Dutch Embassy in Ghana playing an Advisory role.
