We wrapped our 2023 community engagements up in Elmina and Cape Coast with an outreach and men’s forum as part of promoting women’s sexual and reproductive health, converging all men’s groups (fishermen, traditional leaders, assembly members, young men and community members’ associations) in the Bantuma and Idan communities. Oftentimes, conversations on women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights leave men behind, despite their crucial roles, which informed this event sponsored by RFSU. The outreach and men’s forum made intentional efforts to bridge this gap by presenting to them the right information about family planning, some norms perpetrated against women and girls that are affecting women, opening sessions for men to share their perspectives, and successfully making a commitment to make better decisions to promote women’s reproductive health.
